February 18, 2007 - Foaling and Breeding Problem Mare Seminar hosted at the farm.  As breeders of miniature horses, we truly believe we have a responsibility to our clients and the industry as a whole to provide educational opportunities related to all aspects of miniature horse ownership.  Last year we hosted a series of 4 clinics on halter training by some of the best professionals in our industry.

This year we held a day long seminar for discussing issues related to breeding, pregnancy and foaling of mares.  We conducted the pregnancy and foaling segment of the seminar.  Dr. Cheryl Lopate, MS, DVM, Diplomate Theriogenology (reproductive veterinarian) presented the segment dealing with evaluation and breeding strategy for problem broodmares.

There was a wonderful group of approximately 40 people who attended to ask questions, exchange ideas and share experiences.  All in attendance made donations to the Northwest Miniature Horse Club Gelding Incentive Fund for attending this seminar.  As a result, approximately $600 was collected in support of that worthy program.  Thanks to all who attended and contributed.  We really enjoyed the day.

Special thanks to Dr. Cheryl Lopate for donating her valuable time and sharing her expertise with all of us.  Also, thanks to Ken and Cindy Porter, Estate Horse Supply for sponsoring the event.  As many of you know, Ken manufactures the very popular and highly reliable Equi-Page foaling alarm system.

February 1, 2007 - Monarch offspring continue with their National Futurity success.  At the 2006 AMHA world show, the Scott Creek horses shown in the World futurities were magnificent.  The total dollars earned by the relatively few horses shown that were sired by Monarch earned him 3rd leading futurity sire at the 2006 World show.  Much credit for this success goes to the dedicated owners and trainers of these horses for the outstanding performances with these Monarch offspring.  We are extremely proud of your accomplishments. With only four years of showing a few of Monarch's foals in the World futurities, this is his second year of being one of the Top Ten Leading Lifetime Sires.  To date Monarch's offspring have earned their owners over $25,000 in World Futurity Prize Money.  Congratulations to all of you on your wonderful success!

Late August, 2006 - Joanne accompanied another group of export horses to Europe.  Of course the trip also provided her with a chance to visit some international friends and see some of the beautiful countryside.  She spent the majority of her time in France this time.  She was able to attend a miniature horse show and tour that beautiful country.

Maryline Tournier and friend Jean, show their horses, Scott Creek Monarch Chrome Vision and Scott Creek Monarch Silver Satin at the event in Compiegne, France.

February 1, 2006 - The Miniature Horse World just arrived and we were very pleased to see that our herd sire Sierra Dawn Uno's Monarch was the second leading money earning sire at the 2005 World show.  This is little misleading.  Actually his offspring who were shown in the World Futurity classes collected the second highest amount of money paid out at the 2005 World Show.  We really place much interest in this since there are so few Scott Creek horses that compete at the World Show each year.  They must all do very well for our farm and breeding program to receive any recognition.  For that we are very proud.

We were also pleased to see that in only three years of competing as a World Futurity Nominated Sire, Monarch has already become one of the Top Ten Lifetime Money Earning Sires.  Once again, we consider this a great accomplishment with so few Scott Creek horses competing annually in the World Futurity. This places Monarch as well as our other herd sire Brewer's Orion Mystic on this very select list

We are also very proud and thankful to those wonderful owners and the talented trainers of Monarch's offspring who had the confidence in the horses to invest substantial expense and tireless effort to be so successful. Congratulations to everyone of you !

January 17 - 31,  2006- Joanne was invited to spend a "Horse Person's Holiday" with friends Tricia and Russell Blinkhorn from Crystal Park Miniatures, Tamworth, NSW, Australia.  It was Joanne's first trip down under and she was wonderfully impressed with the beautiful country, great hospitality, not to mention the horses.  Many Australians have taken miniature horses very seriously with the industry and breeders becoming highly sophisticated in their knowledge and expectations of the breed.  While there Joanne also participated in a small seminar with other miniature horse enthusiasts.

Can't really say what was going on in this picture.  Tricia says they were on the way out  to dinner.  Looks to me She and Russell had introduced Joanne to either too much world famous "Fosters" Australian beer or some of the great "Shiraz" wine from down under.  In any case it appears the police in the background had things well under control.  Tricia and Joanne will have to clear their names based on this photo !

Below are a couple more photos of Joanne and the beauty of Australia
