Sierra Dawn Uno's Monarch

Sierra Dawn Uno's Monarch - National Champion Senior Stallion

Sierra Dawn Uno's Monarch is the latest addition to our selected group of herd sires.  We have been researching the miniature horse breed for the past ten years to find a stallion that compliments and extends the traits that are being produced by our other terrific sire, Orion Mystic.  Finally we have found such an individual.

We had a lofty criteria to meet before acquiring another sire.  The stallion needed to have a pedigree that had stood the test of time.  "Monarch's" sire, Sierra Dawn Uno De Mayo is a AMHA National Grand Champion Senior Halter Stallion and AMHA National Grand Champion Open Pleasure Driving Champion .  This gave us an indication that Monarch would retain his proportionality and refinement as an adult and is an athletic individual siring the multitalented horses of tomorrow's show arena..

The stallion had to prove himself in the show ring.  Monarch did this in exceptional style both as a junior and senior horse.   Monarch won the AMHA National Yearling Futurity Championship.  He was also National Champion Yearling Open Halter Stallion.  Monarch went back into the show ring as a senior stallion.  To us this further justifies his credibility as a unique individual since it proves his mature conformation is as balanced as his youthful conformation..  As a senior stallion at 5 years of age he was the AMHA National Champion Open Halter Senior Stallion.   This show record is matched by few horses.  At this same national show his first three offspring were all top ten and brought home two reserve national champion trophies.

Finally, we wanted to determine the results of breedings between Monarch and our "Mystic" daughters.  Since this is a significant part of our extended breeding program it was important to "test the waters" so to speak to see what the cross would produce.  Before we purchased Monarch, we bred Mystic daughters to this stallion for 3 years.  Needless to say we have been extremely pleased with the results of these test crosses.  One of the resulting offspring, Scott Creek Standing Ovation, was shown briefly as a yearling.   He went to the AMHA National Show, placing Reserve National Yearling Futurity Champion and followed up at the same show under a different set of judges by winning Reserve National Champion Yearling Halter Stallion.

Since purchasing Sierra Dawn Uno's Monarch, we are breeding him to our national champion and top ten Orion Mystic daughters that serve as the basis of our broodmare herd.  We are more than impressed with the quality of the offspring being produced.  We believe that these horses are the leading edge of the modern miniature horse breed and are setting the trend for the future with regard to their proportion, refinement,  elegance and movement.  Sierra Dawn Uno's Monarch is truly a trend setter  for the future.
